Oh my goodness isn’t the wood grain magnificent? ! Look at the detail on this original hardware!
Sometimes the simplest of techniques yields the greatest results. I kept this one quite simple by following these steps:
1) I cleaned the piece with tsp and rinsed with tap water.
2) I sanded all the way back to bare wood.
3) I applied a paint wash using Dixie Belle Paint Company’s Spanish Moss. I wiped back the paint until I got the look I wanted…
4) I sealed the piece with several coats of DB’s satin clear coat.
5) I painted the original hardware.
I’m so happy with how the paint wash pulled out the wood grain and highlighted the beautiful oak! It gave it the refresh I was hoping for!
