Hello everyone! I’m so excited to share this piece with all of you! Isn’t this paper cool ????? It is comic art from Decoupage Rice Paper by Paper Designs rice paper in a size A1 called Sunnies. I applied and sealed this paper with Pentart decoupage varnish and glue in matte finish. It’s my go to decoupage medium!
I was so excited when I first laid eyes on this paper! Its vivid, fun and eye catching design had me literally the second I saw it! I knew I had to work with it!

I completely went waaaay out of my comfort zone on this project! I’ve never done a pop art piece before and I really wanted to push myself… So I decided to treat each side of this dresser as a blank canvas… I painted beach and water scenes using acrylic paint and my artist palette! It was challenging but so much fun!
The paper was smaller than the surface area so I chose to extend the image using acrylics and creating my own color matches. There are other ways to deal with paper that is smaller than the area you intend to work with. One is extend the image, another is to apply trim or stencil around your decoupage to frame it in.
I painted the body of the piece in Dixie Belle Paint Company silk all in one Anchor which is a beautiful matte black. This was the perfect paint to frame the pop art and hand painted beach/water scenes beautifully!
